Hey you!
Welcome to the new digs. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve moved over from Mailerlite as a newsletter provider because I’ve been enjoying Substack on my blog Chronically Burnt Out (but hopeful), and I really like the way it feels more like a community space - you can leave comments on the posts as well as email replies, and I believe there is even a chat function (though I haven’t explored that yet!). It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but… I really don’t mind that. I hope you don’t either.
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about how I show up in the world, and the ways that I want to connect with you, and this move just felt right. More personal, like we’re hanging out in my lounge rather than me yodelling at you from a distant hill. I crave that connection (even though I am a major introvert), and I hope that you’ll leave a comment or reply via email to let me know how you’re doing.
In writing news, the next release I’ve been working on is almost done! This one is a co-write with my lovely friend Iris Beaglehole. Late last year she came to me with a proposal - she loved the first series that I ever published (the long-neglected Kotahi Bay series where the children of the Māori atua (gods) live in a small magical town protected (mostly) from the outside world, and because this is me there are mysteries to solve and wounds to heal, and romantic connections to make).
I pulled the series down a few years ago because I wanted to rework it and give it some extra love. There were good stories, and awesome characters, but I confess that my earlier writing lacked some depth and detail, and I always felt that they deserved better. I couldn’t figure out how to solve a few of the problems I had…
Then Iris came along. She injected just the right magic, and it’s been an absolute dream working with her to make everything richer and more vibrant. I’m so excited to bring the first book ‘In the Spirit’ back to the world! It was originally published almost ten years ago, so it feels really special to me that this is when it’s relaunching.
Everything happens in perfect time. I’m so grateful to Iris for reaching out to me because everything about this project feels magical. Hopefully I’ll have a cover to share with you soon! And a blurb, and a release date!

This month’s freebie is:
After being snapped up by a secret research lab, Jasper thought he was finally going to use his smarts to ensure a safer world for shifters everywhere.
However, on the night he should be celebrating his greatest achievement, he finds himself grappling with an awful revelation instead. His life’s work is about to fall into the hands of the Vipers MC—a dangerous motorcycle club who will stop at nothing to maintain bloodline purity.
Worse still, on the very same raid which is set to destroy his hopes and dreams, he runs slap bang into his fated mate. A monstrous grizzly shifter going by the name of Tiny, born and bred to the Vipers MC. Will Jasper survive the night and atone for his sins, or will his own fated mate be the one to put him in the ground?
Biker Bear is the explosive prequel to the Knights of Destruction, a sizzling new shifter motorcycle club world brought to you by Miri Stone. This series features diverse relationships such as queer, menage and why choose romances. It is going to be full of steam, cussing, and the sort of dark and gritty themes often found in MC romance. Therefore, this story contains graphic content and violence, and is intended for a strictly mature audience (R18+ only please!).
Gah! Please let me know when this book comes out because I so want to read it
